Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s chief executive, reportedly had close ties to Alice Huang, a Singaporean businesswoman suspected by U.S. intelligence services of acting in Beijing’s interests, according to The New York Times. However, there is no evidence that the Nvidia chief knew about the authorities’ suspicions or transmitted classified information.
Alice Huang is a director at Megaspeed, a company suspected of facilitating Chinese firms’ access to Nvidia chips despite restrictions imposed by the United States. The U.S. investigation into the company began in late 2024, after still-packaged Nvidia chips were discovered at a data center in Malaysia.
As part of the checks, U.S. intelligence services found that Alice Huang had interacted repeatedly with Jensen Huang. The two were photographed in Taipei in June 2024 and were seen together after a business dinner in May 2025.
Nvidia says Megaspeed received only ordinary commercial information, not trade secrets or national security data. Jensen Huang was not officially warned that he might be the target of an espionage operation and is presented by the NYT as a possible target, not as a knowing collaborator with Chinese intelligence services.
Donald Trump was reportedly informed of the suspicions in 2025 but allegedly took no action, amid efforts to maintain trade relations with Beijing. In the presence of the U.S. president, Huang advocated easing restrictions on chip sales to China.
