The United States has announced that it has dismantled a Chinese hacking operation responsible for attacks on sensitive government agencies, including the Department of Justice, NASA, and the Federal Reserve.

The hackers, active since 2018, attempted to compromise critical networks in the U.S. and around the world.

The Department of Justice took control of the domains used by the hacking platforms QScan and QTRouter, managed by Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company, which collaborated with Chinese intelligence services.

Although not all attempts were successful, the hackers conducted intrusions into the systems of the Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health.

A joint cybersecurity alert detailed multiple attacks, including on defense companies and financial institutions.

Experts emphasize that private firms in China frequently carry out cyberattacks for government agencies, and their number has significantly increased in the last decade.
