The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that nearly 200 Russian soldiers have entered Pokrovsk, a strategic town in the Donetsk region. The fighting in the area is described as "extremely dynamic and intense," however, Ukrainian troops are not surrounded and have managed to recapture certain areas around the town, thus stabilizing the situation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the difficulties in Pokrovsk, emphasizing the strategic importance of this town. With a current population of approximately 7,000 residents from over 60,000 before the war, Pokrovsk is a crucial road and rail hub, constantly threatened by Russian forces. Although Vladimir Putin announced the entry of Russian troops into the town, Ukrainian officials denied this information, stating that Kremlin forces continue to suffer significant losses in the region.
