The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, stated that approximately 200,000 volunteers have signed contracts to join the Russian armed forces in the first half of the year, contradicting Ukraine's claims regarding a possible mobilization to compensate for losses on the battlefield.
Medvedev emphasized that there is no need for mobilization, accusing Ukraine of spreading lies to destabilize Russia ahead of the legislative elections. Although the Kremlin has denied plans for mobilization, many Russians remain skeptical after previous experiences. Medvedev stated that the Russian armed forces have covered the necessary personnel and have tried to attract volunteers through financial offers.
At the same time, independent observers from Ukraine are signaling a personnel crisis within the Ukrainian forces, with cases of desertion and resistance to recruitment.
