The American tax authorities, through an agreement with the Department of Justice, will no longer be able to conduct audits against Donald Trump, his sons, and the Trump Organization, following a $10 billion lawsuit filed by Trump against the IRS. The agreement was announced after the government created a $1.8 billion fund to compensate individuals affected by what Trump calls 'lawfare'. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed that the plaintiffs are released from any future claims.
However, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice emphasized that this decision only pertains to existing audits. Criticism from Democrats has emerged, accusing Trump of using the fund to enrich his friends. Trump stated that he did not have an active role in creating the fund and that the payments will be decided by a committee of experts. The lawsuit against the IRS was initiated due to leaks of tax information.
