American President Donald Trump has decided to drop part of his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC, according to The Telegraph. Trump has abandoned the allegations against BBC Studios Distribution and BBC Studios Production, but will continue to pursue action against the BBC as a whole.
The lawsuit was filed in December in a Florida court after the show "Panorama" edited a speech of his from January 6, suggesting that he incited violence. Although the BBC apologized for the editing, it rejected Trump's claims for damages. Recently, it was reported that the U.S. government may join the lawsuit, raising concerns about a potential conflict of interest. The trial is scheduled to begin in February 2027.
