The congress of the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) was postponed Saturday morning due to massive demonstrations in Giessen, a town near Frankfurt. AfD intends to reactivate its youth wing, according to spokesperson Michael Pfalzgraf.
Media reported that only about 300 AfD representatives were present in the exhibition hall, in contrast to initial estimates of 1,000 participants. Approximately 30 protests are planned, with expectations of around 50,000 people opposing the congress. It also appears that Jean-Pascal Hohm, a regional deputy considered a possible leader of the AfD youth wing, was not present at the event.
