
Eugenia Bratu, primary care physician in public health, emphasized on Medika TV that the life expectancy of Romanians is 8 years lower than the European average, and unhealthy eating is the main cause. As part of a national campaign to promote healthy eating, funded by the Ministry of Health, INSP collaborates with Public Health Departments to educate the population about the importance of a balanced diet and physical activity.
Dr. Eugenia Bratu mentioned that cardiovascular diseases are the most common causes of death in Romania, and an unbalanced diet has a significant impact on health. She also highlighted that only 33% of teenagers consume fruits, and the consumption of sweets is alarming, with 50% of girls and 30% of boys consuming them daily.
