President Nicușor Dan announced that the European Union's loan of 90 billion euros for Ukraine will arrive within a month, despite the blockages imposed by Hungary.
During a press conference, Nicușor Dan emphasized that it is unacceptable for a decision already made to be contested later. The European Union has reaffirmed its support for Ukraine, and an assessment team is already on-site to analyze the damage to the pipeline.
"Yes, I maintain what I said and many people said today, in the debate that took place on the subject of Ukraine: that it is unacceptable for a decision already made to be called into question based on a subsequent event, regardless of what that event is, because we know well what Ukraine's point of view is.
On one hand, the Union has reaffirmed its support for Ukraine, from a procedural point of view, a team, precisely to resolve this dispute, a team of people from the European Commission and from some member states are on-site to assess the damage to the pipeline and there is a promise that, at the moment when oil will resume flowing, the loan will be unlocked, that is the situation. So we expect that in a month, from this moment, the money will reach Ukraine"
President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, promised that the EU will find solutions to unlock the loan, despite the ongoing opposition from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who stated that he will not allow the release of funds until the resumption of Russian oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline.
