Bulgarian MEP Andrei Novakov announced that the European Parliament is working on a new package of laws for air travel, aimed at reducing fees applied to passengers. Novakov emphasized that passengers should not be treated like an "ATM," paying extra fees for check-in, seat selection, or luggage. The goal is to protect both consumers and airlines, keeping delays to a maximum of 3 hours. Among the proposals discussed are ensuring adjacent seating for families without extra fees and including luggage in the ticket price. The package of laws, which has been under negotiation for 11 years, has received significant support in Parliament. Novakov also addressed the issue of Romania and Bulgaria's membership in the Schengen area, expressing hope that Romania will invest in the necessary infrastructure to facilitate travel between the two countries. He also mentioned the importance of Romania's accession to the eurozone to simplify payments between member states.
