On Tuesday, the European Parliament adopted significant amendments to the rules regarding air passenger rights. These changes facilitate the obtaining of compensation in case of flight delays or cancellations, and children will benefit from free seats.
Passengers will be able to request compensation if the flight is delayed by more than three hours or canceled less than 14 days in advance. The compensation remains at the previous level, ranging between 250 and 600 EUR, depending on the distance of the flight. Airlines can reduce compensation by 50% under certain conditions.
The new rules also include additional rights, such as automatic refunds and access to clear information about compensation claims. Passengers will no longer pay fees for correcting spelling mistakes in their names or for obtaining boarding passes in digital format. Additionally, vulnerable passengers, including those with disabilities, will receive assistance and compensation in case of inconveniences.
