Crin Antonescu, the candidate of the PSD-PNL-UDMR coalition, harshly criticized George Simion's decision to sign a $1.5 million lobbying contract in the US, saying it denigrates Romania. Antonescu stressed that Simion is using Romanians' money to pay a lobbying firm to promote a negative image of the country. He accused the AUR leader of investing in his own image instead of unveiling a serious program for Romania. The contract, signed in April 2025, is aimed at gaining support from American personalities, and the amount comes from subsidies to parliamentary parties.
