The Senate Education Committee unanimously decided to propose to the plenary the repeal of the legislative amendment that would allow high schools to organize their own admissions for half of the students. The proposal is set to be analyzed in the plenary of the Senate, which is the decision-making chamber and will make the final decision.
Initially, it was proposed to postpone the exam by four years, but the senators decided to cancel it. Ștefan Pălărie, USR senator, emphasized that there is no political color when it comes to the education of children.
The debates in the Committee included members, representatives of students and parents, as well as a former Minister of Education. The interim Minister of Education, Mihai Dimian, announced that an amendment will be necessary to allow the repeal of the exam for the current school year. The Committee unanimously decided to eliminate the parallel exam, and the legislative initiative will be put to a vote in the plenary of the Senate.
