The Minister of Education, Daniel David, stated that he is not sure if teenagers are ready to study the old chroniclers in the 9th grade, but he mentioned that they have studied Latin for a year. The new curriculum, which will be implemented starting with the 2026-2027 school year, proposes a model centered on the historical evolution of the Romanian language and literature, including texts from chroniclers from 1600. Criticisms of this program have been numerous, with teachers and writers warning that the old writing style could discourage students from approaching literature.

It was also emphasized that the chronological approach to literature is not suitable for high school students, who should explore themes of identity and personal discovery. The minister promised to take into account the feedback from specialists and highlighted the importance of debates on this topic.
