Students in Romania return to classes today, September 7, with the start of the 2026–2027 school year. For most students, classes will end on June 18, 2027, and the school year will have 36 weeks of study, divided into five modules.
Minister of Education Mihai Dimian urged students to enjoy education, respect their teachers, and look beyond grades and exams when viewing school. “Learn to develop yourselves personally, not just for grades, not just for exams, and appreciate education,” the minister said on Digi24 Interviews.
The first module runs from September 7 to October 23, 2026, followed by a holiday until November 1. The second module begins on November 2 and ends on December 22, while the winter holiday is scheduled from December 23 to January 10.
The third module begins on January 11, 2027, and ends depending on the week set for the flexible holiday in each county: February 12, 19, or 26. The final two modules end on April 23 and June 18, 2027, respectively.
