Students return to classes on Monday, September 7, 2026, for the 2026–2027 school year, which will have 36 weeks of classes for most grades and will end on Friday, June 18, 2027. The school year officially begins on September 1, 2026, and ends on August 31, 2027.

Classes are divided into five modules:

The first module begins on Monday, September 7, 2026, and ends on Friday, October 23, 2026. Students then begin the autumn break, scheduled from Saturday, October 24, to Sunday, November 1, 2026. Classes resume on Monday, November 2.

The second module runs from November 2 to December 22, 2026, with the winter break beginning on Wednesday, December 23. It ends on Sunday, January 10, 2027, and students return to school on Monday, January 11.

With the return to classes, the third module begins, having the same start date in all counties but ending on different dates. The differences are determined by the mobile holiday, known as the “ski holiday,” whose period is established by each school inspectorate.

Depending on the inspectorate’s decision, the third module may end on Friday, February 12, February 19, or February 26, 2027. The mobile holiday will last one week and will be scheduled between February 15 and March 7, 2027.

Depending on the week chosen for the ski holiday, the fourth module will begin on Monday, February 22, March 1, or March 8, 2027. Regardless of the option, it will end on Friday, April 23, 2027.

The spring break is scheduled from Saturday, April 24, to Tuesday, May 4, 2027. Classes will resume on Wednesday, May 5.

The final module of the school year begins on Wednesday, May 5, and ends on Friday, June 18, 2027.

Afterwards, students begin the summer holiday, which starts on Saturday, June 19, 2027, and ends on Sunday, September 5, 2027. The new school year will begin on Monday, September 6, 2027

The date on which classes end varies depending on the level of education. Students in their final years will begin their holiday earlier, while some categories of students will continue classes until the end of June.

June 4, 2027 – classes end for students in the 12th grades, daytime education, as well as for those in the 13th grades, evening and part-time education;

June 11, 2027 – the last day of classes for students in the 8th grades;

June 18, 2027 – classes end for most students;

June 25, 2027 – the school year ends for students in technological high school education, with the exceptions provided by order, as well as for those in vocational education.

Throughout the 2026–2027 school year, students and teachers will benefit from several days off, either on the occasion of events dedicated to education or on public holidays.

October 5, 2026, International Education Day, is a day off for students and teaching staff, so no classes will be held on this day.

Schools will also be closed on public holidays and on the other non-working days provided for by the legislation in force. In the 2026–2027 school year, these include:

Monday, November 30, 2026 – Saint Andrew’s Day – and Tuesday, December 1, 2026 – Romania’s National Day. Together with the weekend of November 28 and 29, the two days off form a period of four consecutive days without classes;

Tuesday, June 1, 2027 – Children’s Day, a public holiday.

Other public holidays during the 2026–2027 school year overlap with the holidays already established for students.
