Education and Research Minister Mihai Dimian has approved the school textbooks for ninth grade that were declared winners following the tenders organized for 63 subjects. Appeals were submitted for nine other subjects, and the procurement procedure can continue after they are resolved.
According to the minister, the procedure was completed in approximately seven months, compared with an average of ten months in previous years. Dimian said he understands the dissatisfaction over the delay in the textbooks, but praised the efforts of the teams involved in carrying out the procurement stages.
Support materials have been prepared for ninth-grade students and teachers, while previous textbooks are also available in schools. However, these cover only part of the current curricula.
For tenth grade, the minister requested that the procurement documentation be prepared by the end of the month. The objective is for the textbooks to reach high schools by August 2027, before the start of the school year. The minister maintains that preparing the stages in advance is necessary so that students and teachers have the resources available from the beginning of classes.
