The voluntary pension funds reached 6.59 billion lei in August 2025, with a 20% increase compared to the previous year, according to ASF.

At the end of August 2025, voluntary pension funds recorded assets of 6.59 billion lei, a significant increase of 20% compared to the previous year. Most investments were local, with 95% being denominated in lei. Contributions in August amounted to 79 million lei, with an average contribution of 167 lei. Government bonds represented 63.8% of the assets, and pension funds had 939,280 participants. There are several pension funds active in Pillar III.
