The Minister of Labor, Florin Manole, stated that Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's decision to postpone the increase of the minimum wage is wise, given the difficult economic context in Romania and the disagreement between unions and employers. Manole emphasized that, despite political positions, there are solid arguments for increasing the minimum wage, such as the high inflation that affects the purchasing power of citizens. He mentioned that a supportive measure could be increasing the amount of meal vouchers, supported by both social parties. Additionally, Manole stated that he will continue to advocate for the increase of the minimum wage, having sufficient arguments to support this endeavor in political and social discussions. The government announced that the minimum wage will remain at the current level and that consultations will continue, acknowledging the impact of rising living costs on low-wage employees.
