Alexandru Nazare, the Minister of Finance, stated that there are several proposals regarding how Romania should respond concerning the fuel excise tax.

Although analyses have been conducted, he emphasized that the Government will discuss these proposals and will make a decision soon. Nazare was cautious regarding the reduction of the excise tax, mentioning that a 40% reduction cannot be budgetarily supported at present. He emphasized that a decrease in the excise tax does not automatically guarantee a reduction in fuel prices.

Prime Minister Bolojan supported the same idea.

Nazare emphasized the importance of controlling economic operators who hold fuel stocks, which are not influenced by current prices.
