President Nicușor Dan stated that, following the informal meeting of the European Council, the European Commission committed to coming up with proposals to reduce energy prices. He emphasized that high energy prices affect Europe's competitiveness compared to the United States and China. Among the topics discussed were economic policies to counteract anti-competitive practices. The Commission will present, in March, scenarios for establishing energy prices and a single company registration system, expected to be implemented by the end of 2026. Nicușor Dan mentioned that European leaders do not want a protectionist Union, but must react quickly to economic challenges. Regulations for issuing greenhouse gas certificates, which will be introduced in June, were also discussed. Romania aims to attract investments through the digitalization of infrastructure.
