President Nicușor Dan announced on Friday that he had discussed the future budget of the European Union and the digitalization of Romania’s tax administration with Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
In a post published on the X platform, the head of state said that Romania supports an ambitious European budget that addresses the common priorities of the member states and the need for investment in Europe’s development.
The talks also covered the situation of Romania’s tax administration. Nicușor Dan said that measures to digitalize institutions, increase the efficiency of tax collection and reduce tax evasion had been examined.
The president stressed that Romania can draw on the experience of other member states and European cooperation to accelerate reforms in this area. The digitalization of tax administration is considered an important tool for improving revenue collection and managing tax obligations more efficiently.
Nicușor Dan reiterated that support and the exchange of experience at European level can contribute to faster progress in modernizing Romania’s tax administration.
