Nicușor Dan and Georgia Meloni organized the first meeting of the "Friends of Cohesion" group: "We will continue to advocate for an ambitious EU budget"

President Nicușor Dan, together with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, chaired the first coordination meeting of the 'Friends of Cohesion' group at the leaders' level, ahead of discussions on the multiannual financial framework (MFF) 2028-2034.

Nicușor Dan emphasized on Facebook the group's commitment to advocate for an ambitious European Union budget that ensures sufficient resources for the Cohesion Policy and the Common Agricultural Policy, as well as for strengthening competitiveness across the Union. The President of Romania is also participating in the summer European Council meeting in Brussels, where support for Ukraine and Moldova, European security, and global economic challenges are being discussed. Nicușor Dan will highlight the need for a firm condemnation of Russia's attempts to escalate the conflict and will call for an appropriate response to recent incidents that have affected EU member states.

"We will continue to advocate for an ambitious EU budget, with sufficient resources for the Cohesion Policy and the Common Agricultural Policy, as well as for strengthening overall competitiveness across the European Union," said Nicușor Dan.
