Sorin Grindeanu, the president of PSD, stated that his party will not accept the government to assume responsibility separately for the package of measures regarding administration and the one for economic relaunch. During a coalition meeting, a timeline was discussed for the simultaneous assumption of the two packages, considering that Romania urgently needs measures for economic relaunch.
Grindeanu emphasized that in recent months, only cuts, restructurings, and tax increases have been discussed, which must come to an end. He stated that deficit reductions should be achieved through economic growth, not just through taxes, and that the measures proposed by PSD would contribute to this growth. Grindeanu mentioned that the increase in VAT was not necessary, arguing that both packages must be approved simultaneously to continue collaboration in the coalition.
