<p>The International Monetary Fund has revised downwards the forecast for the growth of the Romanian economy for 2025, setting it at 1%, compared to 1.6% previously. Additionally, the estimates for 2026 have been reduced to 1.4%, from 2.8% as forecasted in the spring. The IMF is more pessimistic regarding the current account deficit, which will decrease to 8% of GDP this year, but expects an improvement in 2026, with a deficit of 6.6%. Consumer prices will rise, with an annual average of 7.3% in 2025. The unemployment rate will increase to 5.9% in 2025, before slightly decreasing in 2026. In comparison, the World Bank forecasts a more modest economic growth.
