Fuels in Romania recorded a new price increase on Friday morning, by 9 bani per liter, with standard diesel exceeding 9 lei at certain gas stations. The price of diesel varies between 8.95 lei at Petrom and 9.02 lei at OMV, while premium diesel costs between 9.37 and 9.58 lei per liter.

In this context, drivers rushed to gas stations, fearing new price increases, and sales increased by 3-4 times compared to a normal day.

Experts estimate that, without intervention from the authorities, diesel could reach 9.78 lei/liter in the next two weeks, while gasoline could reach 8.46 lei/liter. This situation has raised concerns about the impact on the economy and consumers.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced that the Romanian Government is considering measures to limit, but not cancel, price increases for fuels, following an extraordinary meeting in which the budget for 2026 was adopted. Bolojan emphasized that the war in the Middle East affects international markets, including the fuel market, which has led to significant increases.
