Adrian Codirlașu, president of CFA Romania, stated that the Fitch agency's report on Romania is more negative than previous ones, highlighting a deterioration in economic prospects.
Although the sovereign rating was maintained at 'BBB minus', Codirlașu emphasized that initially the agency considered a downgrade, but was influenced by the Government's willingness to reduce public spending. However, he expressed concerns regarding the sustainability of these measures, highlighting the lack of necessary reforms to access European funds.
Codirlașu warned that reducing the budget deficit could be reversible under a new government, which could push Romania into the 'junk' category. Fitch, along with other rating agencies, maintains a negative outlook on the Romanian economy, raising questions about the financial stability of the country.
