Two Romanian citizens were arrested by the Swiss police following a routine check at the St. Margrethen border crossing. Officers from the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) stopped a vehicle with a French license plate, where they discovered jewelry, watches, and a gold Vreneli cleverly hidden in the engine compartment and inside the car, including in a loaf of bread.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the jewelry had been stolen during a robbery in the Zurich canton. The two Romanians were arrested and handed over to the St. Gallen cantonal police, which took over the case to verify whether they were directly involved in the robbery or were just transporting the stolen goods. Authorities continue the investigation to identify any other individuals involved.
