Four Romanians were arrested in Switzerland after police discovered jewelry and other goods worth tens of thousands of Swiss francs in a home in Subingen, canton of Solothurn. Among the recovered items were gold jewelry, pocket watches and wristwatches, as well as several thousand francs in cash.
The investigation began after a man from Dietikon reported the disappearance of valuable jewelry from his home. On October 8, he had a woman he met through a dating platform over to his apartment. According to the Zurich Cantonal Police, preliminary investigations indicated that the woman may have used a false name.
On October 15, police conducted a house search in Subingen at the request of the Zurich Public Prosecutor’s Office. There, they identified the main suspect, a 24-year-old Romanian woman, together with three other people.
A 31-year-old Romanian woman and two Romanian men, aged 26 and 30, were also arrested. The four are suspected of the theft reported in Dietikon and of other property-related offenses. The authorities are checking the origin of the goods and possible links to other thefts committed in Switzerland. The exact value of the confiscated items was not disclosed.
