Romania intervened in France, sending a specialized module for forest fire extinguishing, to manage a vegetation fire near the locality of Montalba, in the Pyrenees area.
In recent days, southern France has been facing large-scale fires, and Romanian firefighters have ensured constant monitoring of the assigned sector, preparing to limit the spread of flames towards endangered objectives. The main mission was to protect several households and a photovoltaic park, which were not affected due to the actions taken.
Romania sent 20 firefighters, equipped with fire extinguishing vehicles, including a high-capacity tanker. The intervention is taking place under the coordination of the French authorities, within the European Civil Protection Mechanism, and includes measures to ensure the continuity of operations. Romania has positively responded to requests for support from France in the past, demonstrating solidarity in the face of devastating fires.
