On Thursday, March 12, public transport in Brussels will be severely disrupted due to a national protest organized by major unions against the federal government's austerity reforms. The public transport company STIB/MIVB has announced that a significant part of the staff will participate in the strike, which will lead to difficulties on metro, tram, and bus lines.
Additionally, the protest march will block certain routes, exacerbating transport issues. Although STIB/MIVB cannot accurately estimate the extent of the disruptions, the company is committed to maintaining some services.
Passengers are advised to plan alternative travel arrangements. Information about operational lines will be available on the STIB/MIVB website, the mobile app, and social media, and the Floya app will provide adapted routes and suggestions for alternative transport.
