A 26-year-old man was detained after accidentally shooting his father, a 62-year-old man, in the forest of Borșa.

The police were alerted by witnesses that a 62-year-old man was injured by gunfire from a hunting rifle in a forest known to locals as 'Pădurea Plopilor', in Maramureș County. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he underwent surgery for injuries to his abdomen, legs, and right arm.

The investigation by the Maramureș police established that the main suspect is the victim's son, a 26-year-old young man who does not have a permit for the weapon. He has been detained for 24 hours, being accused of domestic violence, violating weapon regulations, and illegal use of a firearm. It appears that the incident occurred while the young man and others were searching for deer antlers, not hunting. The young man will be presented to the magistrates with a proposal for preventive arrest.
