Botoşani: A man was detained for 24 hours after shooting a rabbit without having a hunting license

A 35-year-old man from Cătămărești-Deal commune, Botoșani County, was detained for 24 hours after allegedly shooting a hare without a hunting license. The incident allegedly took place on September 1, 2026, around 9:00 p.m., on a hunting ground different from the one where the man was registered.

Police officers from the Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service conducted two searches, at the suspect’s home and at the headquarters of his company. The investigation concerns the offenses of unlawful use of a firearm and poaching.

During the searches, police found a lethal hunting firearm, 15 cartridges and an aiming device equipped with a thermal imaging system. The vehicle allegedly used during the incident was also identified at the company’s headquarters. Inside it, investigators found the spent cartridge casing resulting from the use of the firearm.

The items were seized as the investigation continues. The man is due to appear before the court, which will decide what preventive measure should be imposed.>>","slug":"man-botosani-detained-illegal-hare-shooting"}Doe?}
