Yellow heat codes, strong winds and storms for August 8

Meteorologists from ANM have issued several yellow codes for Saturday, August 8, regarding the heatwave, strong winds, and violent storms.

In Banat, Oltenia, Dobrogea, and most of Muntenia, high temperatures are expected, with maximums between 34 and 37 degrees, and the temperature-humidity index (THI) will exceed 80 units, indicating high thermal discomfort. The yellow heatwave code is valid between 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

Additionally, a yellow wind code will be active on the same day, between 10:00 AM and 11:00 PM, with intensifications of the wind in Moldova, eastern Muntenia, and northern Dobrogea, where gusts will reach 50-70 km/h.

ANM has also issued a storm warning, valid between 12:00 PM and 10:00 PM, for the western half of Muntenia, eastern Oltenia, and southern Transylvania, where torrential downpours, electrical discharges, and hail will be recorded. Rainfall amounts will vary between 15-20 l/m², and in mountainous areas, they can reach 30-50 l/m².

Atmospheric instability will also affect the rest of Oltenia, Muntenia, and Transylvania.
