Wizz Air, the largest airline operator in Romania, will launch, starting from May 22, 2026, two weekly flights from Cluj-Napoca to Valletta, the capital of Malta, operated on Mondays and Fridays. Additionally, from April 1, passengers will be able to fly from Bucharest to Antalya, Turkey, with four flights per week, and to Pescara, Italy, with flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Wizz Air is thus strengthening its vacation destinations, recording a 30% increase compared to last year for these types of routes. Anastasia Novak, Corporate & Sustainability Communications Manager at Wizz Air, highlighted the trend towards "micro-vacations," shorter and more frequent trips. The company operates 238 routes from 14 airports in Romania, connecting passengers to 83 destinations in 27 countries. With a fleet of 262 Airbus aircraft, Wizz Air has established new operational bases in Romania and has over 1,600 employees. Revenues from the local market for the fiscal year 2024-2025 were 561 million euros.
