At the PSD Congress, MEP Victor Negrescu emphasized that the party is at a crucial moment, being threatened both by the right's austerity and by the populism of extremists. He criticized USR and mentioned that PSD needs to wake up to defend the social state and its achievements. Negrescu highlighted that social democrats must not remain passive in the face of political attacks, recalling a blacklist compiled by extremists targeting PSD members.

He also reaffirmed pride in the party's identity and history, emphasizing that PSD has always been a party of reforms, in contrast to the austerity measures promoted by other formations. The Congress took place on Friday, with Sorin Grindeanu as the sole candidate for the party presidency, and PSD will adopt a new doctrine based on national and traditional values.
