Kelemen Hunor stated that UDMR will support the continuation of the price cap on basic food items even after the deadline of October 1. Although the decision not to continue the price cap was announced by the Government, Hunor emphasized that discussions within the coalition have not concluded. He argued that this measure is necessary to protect the population from rising inflation, which is approaching 10%. UDMR will propose maintaining the price cap for at least six months, considering that prices have been more reasonable since the introduction of this measure in June 2023.
