A 50-year-old man from Baia Mare died after falling down a 7th-floor elevator shaft, suffering multiple traumatic injuries

The accident happened in the evening when the man opened the elevator door, unaware that the elevator was on a higher floor. He fell all the way to the ground floor and neighbors called 112. Taken to hospital with serious injuries, he died the next morning. Residents said the elevator was having frequent problems, and the repair company had been called the night before, but could not fix the malfunction. Police have opened a criminal file for manslaughter and are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
