A 45-year-old Romanian man died on Thursday morning, October 1, in a workplace accident on Kleistgasse, in Vienna’s 3rd district. The man was carrying out sheet-metal work on a building and fell from the terrace of an apartment on the fifth floor into the paved inner courtyard. The fall was estimated at approximately 18–20 meters.

Berufsrettung Wien crews intervened immediately and provided first aid at the scene of the accident. However, the man had suffered severe internal injuries and multiple fractures, and his death was pronounced before he could be transported to hospital.

Vienna police announced that the worker had fallen for a cause that is currently unknown. The investigation is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the accident and verify the conditions under which the work was being carried out. The victim’s identity and the name of the company he worked for have not been made public. No other injuries were reported.
