The Bulgarian authorities have announced traffic restrictions on the Giurgiu-Ruse bridge on November 4 and 5, 2025, due to construction and installation works. On November 4, between 09:00 and 21:00, traffic will be completely closed, and between 21:00 and 09:00, it will be allowed only for vehicles with a maximum authorized mass (MTMA) under 3.5 tons and passenger transport.
The works are necessary for the reinforcement of the bridge structure, which has not been significantly repaired since 1954. The total cost of the works amounts to approximately 22 million euros. Also, during the restrictions, heavy truck drivers can use parking spaces in the adjacent regions. The Giurgiu-Ruse bridge is an important artery for traffic between Romania and Bulgaria, having a significant daily flow of vehicles.
