Rehabilitation works on the Friendship Bridge Giurgiu-Ruse have resumed on the Bulgarian side, and traffic is flowing on a single lane.

Starting with Monday, April 14, 2026, rehabilitation works on the Bulgarian side of the Giurgiu-Ruse Friendship Bridge have resumed, according to a press release issued by the Giurgiu Territorial Inspectorate of the Border Police. Under these conditions, road traffic is conducted alternately, on a single lane, with traffic being directed at equal intervals for each direction of travel.

During the Easter Holidays, traffic was allowed on both lanes to ease congestion. The Road Infrastructure Agency of the Republic of Bulgaria announced that major repair works on the Danube Bridge began in July 2024 and should be completed this year. Road users are advised to be attentive to traffic restrictions.
