The Timișoara City Hall is preparing a campaign dedicated to students, aiming to subsidize public transport to ensure that every student has a subscription. Mayor Dominic Fritz stated that this initiative comes in the context of modernizing the vehicle fleet of the Public Transport Company (STPT) and aims to encourage students to give up their personal cars.

There is already a similar program for high school students, and now there is a desire to extend it to university students, with a commitment to subsidizing a larger share of the subscription cost. Dominic Fritz emphasized that STPT cannot be profitable solely from subsidies and that it is essential for it to focus on customer satisfaction. The mayor also mentioned that the elimination of existing facilities for public transport is not being considered.
