In the municipality of Arad, the number of tram and bus tickets sold doubled in August, reaching 80,556, compared to 36,072 in July, against the backdrop of reducing the travel fare to 1 leu, valid for 24 hours.
This measure is part of the '1 leu per day' program, which has had a positive impact on the use of public transport. Additionally, the number of subscriptions increased from 3,207 in July to 5,772 in August, with 2,565 additional subscriptions. Mayor Călin Bibarț stated that these results are a strong signal regarding the effectiveness of the measure, mentioning that the goal is to change the mobility behavior of Arad residents.
Since August 1, Arad offers the cheapest public transport in the country, with tickets and subscriptions significantly reduced compared to previous rates.
