The Timișoara Court of Appeal issued a ruling in the case of the looting of the Băile Herculane resort, confiscating 19 properties, including hotels and thermal baths, in favor of the Romanian state. The trial lasted 25 hours, taking place over two days, and the ruling is not final. The judges imposed prison sentences for several defendants, including 10 years for a lawyer and 7 years for a bailiff.
Iosif Armaș, a former PSD deputy, was accused of orchestrating the robbery but escaped charges due to the statute of limitations, although it was decided to confiscate 4.8 million euros. The investigation, which began in 2016, identified damages of over 120 million lei related to the illegal sale of sugar from the state reserve.
