The Senate rejected on Wednesday the bill submitted by Deputy Cristina Prună, which aimed to abolish the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluating the Performance of Public Enterprises (AMEPIP), an agency responsible for overseeing state-owned companies. Prună criticized this decision, stating that it demonstrates that streamlining and cost reduction are not priorities for the state. The bill will be debated and voted on in the Chamber of Deputies.
The deputy emphasized that AMEPIP, recently established, is not operational and has responsibilities that overlap with those of the General Secretariat of the Government, generating unjustified costs. She also mentioned that the agency was created to favor political clientele, not to improve efficiency. The European Commission has suspended part of the PNRR funds due to political appointments at the head of AMEPIP.
