The general director of CNAIR, Cristian Pistol, announced on Saturday that a new segment of the bridge deck over the Siret River has been lifted and positioned, as part of the Braila - Galati Express Road project. The operation lasted 3 hours and was carried out with the help of a high-capacity crane, of 700 tons, by the Romanian contractor UMB.
Pistol mentioned that the installation works for the hangers for phase 6 have been completed, and the provisional foundations from the deck have been dismantled. The physical progress of the works has exceeded 97%, and the bridge is the last objective to be completed within this project. Traffic on the new express road, which has a length of 10.76 km and a cost of 449.42 million lei (excluding VAT), is expected to open by the end of 2026.
The project is financed through the Transport Program 2021-2027 and will contribute to the economic development of the regions of Moldova and Muntenia, having a positive impact on the development opportunities of Dobrogea.
