The National Company for Road Investments (CNIR) announced on September 1, 2026, the expropriation of properties located along the route of the Focșani-Brăila Expressway, the longest stretch of high-speed road built under a single contract, with a length of 73.5 km.
The decision concerns 3,297 properties and a total expropriated area of 8,557,483 square meters, with compensation amounting to 35.9 million lei. This public utility work is included in the Investment Plan 2021-2030 and will connect the Moldova Highway (A7) with the Bridge over the Danube at Brăila and other important roads.
The expropriation was carried out in accordance with Law no. 255/2010, and the decision will be communicated to the municipalities in the counties of Vrancea and Brăila. The project includes 57 structures, six road junctions, and service areas, and the contract for the construction of the road, valued at 4.29 billion lei, is financed through the Transport Program 2021-2027, with an execution period of 42 months.
