The bridge over the Danube at Brăila, known as the Golden Gate of Romania, is facing serious degradation issues less than three years after its inauguration. Settlements have reappeared at the access ramp on the Brăila bank, affecting traffic, especially heavy vehicles. The first settlements were observed in the autumn of 2024, and the contractor attempted to remedy them in the spring of 2025 through deep drilling and the introduction of metal pillars. However, the settlements returned, prompting authorities to impose traffic restrictions, limiting speed to 40 km/h.

The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration has confirmed that the work is under warranty, and the costs of the repairs will be borne by the contractor. Over time, several resurfacing works have been carried out, and structural issues have been discovered, such as loose bolts and infiltrations. Traffic restrictions are in effect indefinitely until the problems are resolved.
