The analysis of the Intelligent Energy Association indicates that fuel prices in Romania could exceed 10 lei per liter if the barrel reaches 90 dollars. Tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial point for global oil supply, have increased risks in the energy market. The price of oil is influenced not only by supply and demand but also by the anticipation of geopolitical risks, which can lead to significant price increases.

The impact on the Romanian economy could be major, considering that over 50% of fuel prices are made up of taxes. An increase in the price of oil by 10 dollars per barrel could lead to a rise of 70 bani per liter at the pump. Additionally, inflation could start to rise again, affecting transportation, food, and production costs.

Romania, although not on the front line militarily, is influenced by fluctuations in prices on international markets. In the event of a prolonged escalation of tensions, the price of oil could exceed 100 dollars per barrel, which would generate a global energy crisis. The response to these challenges depends on internal policies and Romania's ability to reduce dependence on global volatility.
