The Bulgarian Minister of Transport, Grozdan Karadjov, emphasized the need to build a new bridge between Silistra and Călărași to reduce traffic congestion on the Ruse-Giurgiu route, which affects transport capacity. He highlighted the importance of connecting Bucharest with Athens and Odesa and called for concrete actions to improve transport infrastructure. The Greek Minister, Konstantinos Kiranaki, supported the initiative, mentioning the available European resources until 2025 for integrated projects, especially in the railway sector. There was also discussion about building a second Ruse-Giurgiu bridge to reduce congestion, and a joint working group will analyze cross-border projects. The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) received 11 bids for the feasibility study of this bridge, which will determine the location and type of construction. The study must be completed within a maximum of 23 months and will be financed through the Connecting Europe Facility.
